Whatever you do, do not make planning a party or theme day for kids a daunting task. It does not need to be. Yes, it requires a little more prep than a regular ol’ day; but it does not have to tap you completely.
Let’s use the P.A.R.T.Y method.
Party feel as they enter
Activities from arrival
Really fun lessons sprinkled throughout the party
Totally awesome games
Yummies they remember
Today, let’s talk about how to achieve a “Party feel as they enter.”
1. It is easy.
2. It is simple.
3. There are no rules – anything goes.
There are a ton of ways to accomplish this "feel." You can decorate the hallway, have a fun entrance, post a costumed character as the greeter, etc. etc. etc. etc. But my very favorite way to create that atmosphere is to hang stuff from the ceiling. In doing this, the party "feel" stays the entire party, not just at the entrance (although I like all of those things, too). When things are hanging from the ceiling, you can't help but feel excited. It is automatic.
The other day I went into a store for one little thing. For a reason I did not find out, the back room had streamers and balloons hung up. Instantly I felt like a party was going to happen! Decorating the ceiling is the single most impactful thing to do to create a party feel instantly.
You can hang anything:
Loot bags filled with loot
Shape cut outs
Crepe paper clusters
Bags of chips
Empty gift bags opened up with tissue paper hanging out
Wrapped gifts (real or empty boxes)
Every one of our party plans give ideas for decorating to the theme. So fun!!!!
The kids get excited when they walk in. They smile; they are ready for fun. The parents get excited and have that amazing feeling that comes when teachers have really prepared for their kiddo.
Send us a picture of your next decorated ceiling! We would L.O.V.E. to see it!
